Amazon kills off popular Fire TV Stick - is it time you switched to something new?

The Fire TV line up had a massive reboot late last year with Amazon announcing its improved Fire TV Stick 4K and feature-packed Fire TV Stick 4K Max. These are both flagship devices that offer 4K streaming with the Max even including the unique Ambient Experience which turns the big black screen on your TV into an ever-changing work of art.

But what if you don’t want to spend a fortune on a streaming device? Luckily, there’s good news as - without any fanfare - Amazon has just tweaked its much cheaper models.

The firm is currently still selling its Fire TV Stick Lite (although some think this will be discontinued soon) and has now added a Fire TV Stick HD. This appears to replace the ageing 2021 model that was simply called Fire TV Stick.

This latest HD version gets an improved remote with an updated design along with all the features you’d expect such as easy access to all the most popular premium and free streaming apps like Prime Video, Disney+, , Freevee, and more.

As the name suggests, it's fully compatible with HD content and is powered by Amazon’s popular FireOS software which offers recommendations of things to watch.

There’s also Alexa voice search included so you can control things via simple speech commands.

Explaining more about its release, Amazon simply said; "Fire TV Stick HD. Fast, full HD streaming with convenient TV controls."

It’s a nice little update and there’s more good news as it’s priced at £39.99 which is £5 cheaper than the older Fire TV Stick which included many of the same features.

It’s unclear why Amazon hasn’t made more of a song or dance about this new device but it’s on sale now.

The new Fire TV Stick HD is available alongside the existing Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and the Fire TV Cube. I
