Arne Slot questions two 'crucial' Liverpool decisions against Chelsea with Arsenal comparison

Speaking to Sky Sports following today's victory, Slot said: "I thought we were a bit unlucky with some of the decisions that were made. It is not as important now as we won, but it could have been a crucial decision to overturn the VAR decision on the pitch, which I couldn't understand.

"If the referee looks at it for a minute, it tells me VAR shouldn't intervene. VAR shouldn't have interfered and even if you look at it on my screen, it is still a penalty.

"Then there is the red card incident which was a red card yesterday in a similar situation. It is a big decision because it influences the game a lot. It is nice that these incidents happen because it adds to the atmosphere of the crowd. In the end a good win against a strong Chelsea side."

Slot also received his first booking of the season after letting his emotions get the better of him on the sidelines, eventually losing his cool once he felt too many decisions had gone against his side.

However, the Dutchman remained level-headed after the game and admitted that the referee was right to hand him a yellow card.

"There were a few things going against us," he told Sky Sports. "Sometimes you can't hold your emotions. I deserved the yellow card."

Liverpool's victory ensures it retains its place at the top of the ahead of , even if it did slip to second for a matter of hours earlier in the day following the reigning champions' .
