B&M shoppers issue warning to fellow customers after buying £4 item in stores

Iced coffee fans are always looking for the perfect glass to enjoy their beverages. Now, B&M is selling the "perfect" option, but it comes with a warning from other shoppers.

The Natural Home Glass Tumbler with Handle and Bamboo Lid costs £4 in stores. One person showed it to their TikTok followers claiming to have found the "dreamy" item in their local B&M that looked "perfect for iced lattes".

Fellow savvy shoppers were quick to comment and make plans to scour their own B&M in search of the viral product. One wrote that "this is a need not a want" whilst another said: "Get in my basket, so cute!"

A third asked: "Anyone else banned from buying any sorts of mugs & glasses? The obsession is real". Someone else commented: "Do I need this, no. Do I want this, Yes!!"

However, shoppers were divided between the minimal look tumbler and one "major problem" that some people have faced. A few claimed their bamboo lid "turned mouldy" after a number of uses.

One shopper shared: "Be careful with the wooden tops. They can absorb and store water and become mouldy!" Another said: "These wood lids are so horrendous for mould. We bought 20+ for people in our office and every single one was mould ridden in couple of weeks!"

Bamboo is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture quickly and dry out slowly. Therefore, iced coffee drinkers should pay proper attention to how they clean this item after each use.

Being aware of this potential problem means you can act to prevent rather than suffer the loss of this glassware. The best way to stop the mould from turning your dream purchase into a nightmare is fairly simple.

Clean the lid with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry it thoroughly. Another tip is to avoid soaking it in water for long periods - or putting it in the dishwasher.

Another important part of proper care includes storing it away correctly in a dry place which will prevent mould build-up. At the first sign of mould, remove it straight away. An easy and food-safe way is to use a cloth dipped in lemon oil or a solution of vinegar and water to clean it, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
