Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins' Pete Wicks faces major fear after sea accident

Send Push

Pete Wicks has confronted his fears in a huge Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins task,

TOWIE star Pete took part in an open water challenge - a task which previously landed him in hospital. Alongside 13 other recruits, Pete was required to climb a platform and fall backwards into open water for the final task.

However, water challenges bring back traumatic memories for Pete. In last year's series, he jumped out of a helicopter and upon hitting the water, was knocked unconscious and suffered several broken ribs. This incident forced him to leave the series, prompting his return this year.

Before taking the plunge off the platform, Pete addressed the camera about the previous incident. He stated: "Last time I thought water would be my strong point and I knocked myself unconscious and I broke a couple of ribs. I cannot be the person who f****d it twice."

Pete then confessed that he's "not been in open water since" and that he's developed a "weird fear of the sea". The Strictly Come Dancing star also said he's experienced "flashbacks" from the incident - but admits he's not sure if they really are memories. Pete did fearlessly face the challenge and passed with flying colours as he hit the water uninjured. However, there would be disaster brewing as journalist Rachel Johnson, who is also competing in the series, revealed Pete has had an accident in the 2024 series. She explained: "Pete Wicks was medevacked off the mountain. He collapsed."

Despite his fears, Pete bravely faced the challenge and successfully completed it without injury. Geordie Shore icon Marnie Simpson, 32, chimed in: "I felt bad for Pete because coming back the second time, there was so much pressure on him to do even better than the first time so he pushed himself way too far."

Luckily, the series was shot last year in New Zealand, which is just as well since Pete is now strutting his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing. On the premiere show on Saturday (21 September), Pete and his dance partner Jowita Przystal performed admirably, though the judges weren't entirely enamoured with their attempt.

Scoring modestly from the judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke with scores of 4, 5, 3 and 5, Pete and Jowita racked up a total of 17 points out of 40, a result they found less than satisfactory. Taking to Instagram Stories to ponder over his performance and the critiques, Pete quipped: "It can only get better," accompanied by a laughing emoji.
