Chelsea icon John Terry reveals one regret over Premier League record unlikely to be broken

John Terry is convinced that defensive record from their 2004/05 campaign will never be beaten, despite feeling it should have been even better.

Cech responded to Terry’s post pointing out he did not play in the final two games of that campaign. Terry replied: “Neither did I mate. I had an operation on my toe so I would be fit for pre-season. So me and you only conceded 13.”

Ex-Southampton striker James Beattie – the first to score against Chelsea that season – replied: “Couldn’t really have done much about mine, . Great record for the season, mind.”

That 2004/05 season also saw Chelsea establish another record of 25 clean sheets in a Premier League campaign. The club are the proud owners of a few defensive records, with Mourinho’s influence clear.

Chelsea did not lose a single game at Stamford Bridge that season and in fact began a staggering home run. The Blues went 86 matches at home in the Premier League between February 21, 2004 and October 26, 2008 without losing.

That run helped them rack up the most seasons in the Premier League without losing at home. The Blues went through the 2004/05, 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2014/15 campaigns without tasting defeat at Stamford Bridge.
