Gogglebox fans unsure of new family as they're convinced they 'won't last one series' on Channel 4 show

Fans of Gogglebox have been left divided as they're convinced a new family from Kent may not last long on the show.

Michael, Sally and their 17-year-old sons Harry and Jake became the latest cast members to join the popular show earlier this month. Offering their fresh takes on this week's best TV programmes, the new family had quite a lot to say on Friday's episode (October 18).

But, as per usual, fans of Gogglebox have not yet acclimatised to the new change just yet, with some insisting that they will only feature on the show for one series. Heading over to X, viewers shared their thoughts.

One social media user said: "I reckon we'll only see that posh family for one series." Another said: "First disappointment-the family from Kent are still on.."

A third penned: "Why on earth have you put a multimillionaire Eton schooled family on? I can assure you that is not your audience. They’re busy at Daddy’s polo club on Fridays."

But despite some backlash, other viewers were loving the change. One fan wrote: "Haven't watched in ages but I like the new family."

The new clan caught viewers' attention during the first appearance on the show and was quickly labelled "posh" by viewers. Minutes into their first episode, dad Michael spoke to the teens about getting their agricultural licences to drive on a farm. Jake then joked: "I can go pick up my girl on a tractor."

After witnessing the brief interaction, fans rushed to X to share their opinions. "Posh folk aren’t really for #Gogglebox well apart from Gyles and Mary," one viewer stated.

Another questioned: "Why add yet another posh family?" However, others quickly jumped to the family's defence.

Sharing an opposing view, one viewer said: "Reading some posts, 'Don't like the new family, no newbies, etc.' Get stuffed and stop being territorial." Another agreed: "Only put this on for the first time this series. New family from Kent have won me over already. Representation a bonus."

The popular Channel 4 show last introduced a new family to the programme earlier this year in March. Fans also had plenty to say when married couple Teresa and Anita, from Solihull, took to their sofa to take part in the Friday night show.

Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4
