Fans have been patiently waiting for the new menu to launch today (October 16) and along with the there's a brand new menu item that people have been waiting for -

Maccies lovers will know when ordering a breakfast meal you have the option of a regular crispy hashbrown, and now there is the option to add five mini hash browns with your meal. There is also a sharer option of 15 that (apparently) serves three people, however I reckon I could easily eat all 15.
For five by themselves, it'll cost just £1.49 - the same price as a regular hash brown - and for a sharebox of 15, it'll set you back £2.99. I think this is pretty reasonable, especially for 15, however I can't say they would stretch among three people. I have two sisters and I can't imagine the three of us feeling satisfied sharing just one box.
So how do the mini versions compare? When I opened up the McDonald's delivery bag, the delightful smell of the fried hash browns instantly hit me. With my mouth watering, I then opened up the share box and was pretty impressed. The small bites were a perfect shade of golden brown and they were just the right size.
They were hot and fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside, which is the ideal combination that I think the regular hashbrowns are lacking, so this was a real treat. However there is one downside - they are extremely moreish.
You would struggle to have just a few, so I'm not sure that this could be a regular purchase as I'd be left feeling sluggish eating so much fried potato to start my day. So, for this reason, the original offering is better in that sense as it leaves you feeling a little more satisfied.
However overall, because sometimes the regular hash browns can be a little soggy, I definitely prefer the mini hash browns due to them being much crispier and easier to eat. But, like all the best McDonald's foods, they're limited edition, so you will have to be quick to sink your teeth into them.
*Available whilst stock lasts, for a limited time only, Mini Hash Browns are offered exclusively during breakfast hours at participating McDonald’s locations.
