Fowler, proud of his own place among the elite scorers, also shared a tinge of regret amidst his accolades: "It's because I know I might have been even higher if the last four years of my time in English football had been different. He feels that despite being 10 goals short of the legendary Henry's tally following his score against Villa, Salah's on a clear track to overtake the Frenchman swiftly. But with Liverpool's number 11 nearing the end of his contract, where he'll stand in the all-time records is up in the air.

Fowler added: "As for Salah's cryptic message after his winner against Brighton, for me he's telling Liverpool the ball is in their court over his contract situation. I believe he wants to stay – and I'm not alone at Anfield in hoping he does."

Liverpool.com says: Let's hope Fowler's right. Salah certainly doesn't look like a player who's itching to leave Anfield, and hopefully Liverpool will give him that new contract so he can continue climbing that list of Premier League greats.
