Send Push

Three alleged theives were filmed stealing handfuls of food and drink from the same Greggs branch within 20 minutes of each other.

Horrified staff members and customers helplessly watched on as the trio arrived one after the other to swipe thier favourite snacks. The first was confronted by an employee, but cheekily ignored her calls to stop. He picked up three containers of hot food and two drinks from the fridge.

The female worker was heard saying: "Get out, right now", but the shoplifter replied: "I don't know about right now, but in a second I will." As he walked out he added: "Cheers love." The staff member then said: "Can you take a picture of him please?" to another person in the shop.

Minutes later, the second thief arrived and picked up an armful of hot food boxes. He briefly looked around him before casually walking out of the Greggs, in Junction Road, Archway, north London. The third quickly nipped in and took two drinks from the fridge and then scarpered off.

The incident happened between 2.50pm and 3.10pm on Monday, September 16. One witness said: "They were brazen and helping themselves to anything in the shop. It all happened in the space of 20 minutes. They came in individually. You could hear the staff member telling one of them to 'Get out right now'. The cheeky f****r then said 'I don't know about right now'."

Shocked local Paula Petticrew said: "Where's security?" Another - named Cat - added: "I'm sure they are on camera." Amelia sarcastically said: "Oh well they're hungry, no big deal help your self." A fourth added: "Greggs have a no chase policy."

The Met Police and Greggs have been approached for comment.

It's not the first time the branch of the High Street bakery has been targeted by crooks. In April this year, a man was filmed walking out of the store with food and drink he had allegedly not paid for.

Filmed inside the store on April 19 by a shocked customer, the man was seen standing in front of the fridges with three sandwiches in his hand. He then picked up two bottles of orange juice before walking out of the door. The customer filming the 27-second long clip on hisphone said: "F*****g hell. Stealing, stealing."

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the alleged theft was reported to them but said no arrests have been made.
