Chelsea winger Cole Palmer was filmed by supporters running away from Stamford Bridge following the 1-0 victory over Everton on Saturday lunchtime and the reason has now been revealed.

While 14 goals and nine assists is a reasonable record this season, his recent form has been a concern for supporters. And the footage of him running away from the stadium had left many perplexed.

In the video which was originally posted by @H4mza16 on X, can be seen running through the crowds outside with a black hoody on with the hood over his head. The forward appears to be on the phone while fans chase after him.

Supporters on social media had speculated that he may have missed the bus which transports players away from Stamford Bridge. However, this was not the case.

According to footage posted to X by @MattDebonoAC, Palmer was running to collect a new pair of trainers from a nearby petrol station post-match. The forward met Leon Gissing who supplies footballers with clothes and accessories.

Gissing shared his day on social media which included him landing in London on Saturday morning, meeting post-match and receiving a signed shirt from the winger. This week, despite his recent struggles on the pitch, Palmer was linked with a remarkable move to Liverpool. It was claimed by that a bid of £85m could be needed to persuade Chelsea to sell their winger.

Such an offer would represent a whopping £45m profit for the Blues which may be too good to turn down.
