Australia's opener, , announced his retirement from international and all other forms of cricket at the age of 27 due to concussions, a medical condition. He has suffered from concussions many times during his short career. The opener has played just one game in his four years of international career. His medical condition was creating problems in his career. Hence, he decided to put an end to it.
Pucovski was away from the sport for a while because he was suffering from a concussion after being hit by pacer Riley Meredith in a Sheffield Shield match. He played just one Test match for in 2021 against India in Sydney. The former rising star opener informed his fans that he wouldn't play cricket at any level. Notably, the Victoria-born started his cricketing journey in 2017 and was a brilliant player when he was playing domestic cricket for Victoria.
"I wish I was coming in maybe under better circumstances. I’m not going to be playing cricket again. It’s been a really difficult year, to put it as simply as possible. I’d need a few hours, I think, to take you through the whole journey, but the simple message is I won’t be playing cricket at any level again," Pucovski said in a conversation on SEN Radio.
A new chapter begins for PucovskiThe 27-year-old is starting his second innings in life as a cricket coach with the Victorian Premier team, Melbourne. The team has confirmed his joining. Apart from that, he has joined as a commentator with Channel Seven.
Australian cricket will miss his services, as the player amassed 2,350 runs in 36 games, with an average of 51.4. He was a member of Victoria’s Sheffield Shield-winning team in 2019. The player will surely remember his cricketing journey for a long time.
