Rickelton departed for 58 (32) after failing to go through with a pre-meditated shot over the off side. The googly from Digvesh Rathi got a bit of overspin to it. All that the South African top-order batter could manage to do was spooning a simple opportunity to Ayush Badoni at point. Rickelton was MI's second wicket to fall.

Earlier in the afternoon,  won the toss and opted to field first. They made a single change to their XI by bringing in Mayank Yadav in place of Shardul Thakur. As for the hosts, they made a couple of changes to their XI. Karn Sharma and Corbin Bosch came in for Mitchell Santner and Vignesh Puthur.
