Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film is slated to hit the screens tomorrow (August 14). He took to social media to congratulate Rajinikanth on a huge milestone, completing 50 years in the film industry.

Udhayanidhi Stalin reviews Coolie

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), I am truly delighted to congratulate our Superstar@rajinikanth sir on completing 50 glorious years in the film industry. Had the opportunity to get an early glimpse of his much-awaited movie #Coolie, releasing tomorrow. I thoroughly enjoyed this power-packed mass entertainer and am sure it will capture the hearts of audiences everywhere.

My heartfelt wishes for a roaring success to @rajinikanth sir, @sunpictures, #Sathyaraj sir,

@Dir_Lokesh,#AamirKhan sir, @iamnagarjuna sir, @nimmaupendra sir, @anirudhofficial,#SoubinShahir,
@shrutihaasan and the entire team behind this movie."

The film is all set for a grand global release, planned in over 100 countries, and the recently launched trailer has only made fans more excited. Coolie revolves around Rajinikanth’s character, a man leading a quiet life who is forced to step into action to protect his close friend, played by Sathyaraj. Despite warnings from his daughter, portrayed by Shruti Haasan, Rajinikanth’s character chooses to intervene, setting the stage for intense drama and action.

One of the film’s highlights is its star-studded cast, bringing together actors from across India’s various film industries, thereby boosting its pan-Indian appeal.

More about Coolie

However, Coolie has received an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate from the Censor Board due to its intense action sequences and possibly strong thematic content. While hardcore fans are ready to flock to theatres, some concerns have been raised that this rating may deter families and younger viewers, an important demographic for Rajinikanth, whose fanbase traditionally includes many family audiences.

As Coolie prepares to hit screens this Thursday, the film has already created history at the box office in pre-sales.
