New Delhi: External affairs minister S Jaishankar is visiting Canada for the G7 foreign ministers' meeting on Tuesday-Wednesday, eyeing a revival of talks on a bilateral trade pact with the hosts besides collaboration in the fields of technology, energy and critical minerals.
He will be the first Indian minister to visit Canada since the reciprocal restoration of high commissioners by the two countries in August.
In addition to India, Australia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, South Korea, South Africa and Ukraine have also been invited to the G7 foreign minister's meeting. Jaishankar could meet several of his counterparts from the G7 countries as well as the invitee nations during his visit.
Jaishankar's visit to Canada follows his counterpart Anita Anand's visit to India last month. During her visit, both sides agreed to begin at the earliest ministerial-level discussions on bilateral trade and investments.
