One of the world's most beloved figures, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, is set to turn 90 on July 6. While the celebrations have already begun, early attendees have started paying tribute to the Tibetan spiritual leader, and joining the festivities now is Hollywood actor and humanitarian Richard Gere.

Richard Gere joins Dalai Lama's 90th birthday in Dharamshala
Gere, best known for his roles in Pretty Woman and Chicago, arrived in the Himalayan town on July 1 to take part in the week-long celebrations that are already underway in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking at Nechung Monastery, a place of deep spiritual importance to him, Gere reflected on his personal bond with the space. "We’re here in Dharamshala to celebrate His Holiness' 90th birthday, his good health, his strength and compassion," Gere told ANI.

He’s been to my home in the US. He’s also very close to my son, and it’s always a delight being here. I've seen the pleasure of being here many times, so I feel like I have a connection with Nechung now."

Furthermore, according to media reports, a special three-day International Buddhist Conference is scheduled from July 2 to 4 as a part of the celebration. The event will host renowned monks, scholars, and practitioners who will engage in discussions around Buddhist philosophy and heritage.
