Fortnite matchmaking down as Epic Games suffers server issues right before PS Cup

A mystery bug has struck Fortnite this morning, leaving players unable to join games from inside its launcher and creating a huge wave of frustration.

Update: A fix is still in the works from Epic Games, but it has revealed in a new Tweet that the PlayStation Cups in the OCE and ASIA regions will be delayed by an hour to make way for a resolution. The story below has been amended to reflect this change.

The news was revealed on Twitter by the account, which announced that "We are investigating an issue where players may not be able to matchmake into a session. We’ll provide an update once we have more information." This issue seems to leave players on the message "waiting for matchmaking to commence" on the lobby, as Twitter user has reported that the game is causing them issues while they're streaming.

As of the time of writing, the has reported that it is investigating the issue, and will report back to players when the company has more information, but it's more likely that it will return with an update once a fix is delivered. It's pretty terrible timing, especially as many players were preparing for the latest PS Cup to go live shortly, which was revealed back in March by – but , the company has revealed that the Cup has been postponed by an hour in hopes of finding a resolution in good time.
