A wellness coach from Tennessee in the US almost died after a “botched boob job” resulted in her implant bursting open and leaving her with a huge open wound.
Lo Watson decided to treat herself to breast enlargement surgery for her 40th birthday, and spent $14,500 (£10.457) on the procedurethis August. She said she had lost weight last year, which affected the look of the implants she already had.
The part-time waitress said: "I wanted to go a little bit bigger and the doctor went drastically larger. We did legally agree on it as I thought doctors know best. When I initially saw them [my new boobs] I was quite scared at how big they were but I was reassured by the doctor that they were swollen, and had to drop.” Lo's new chest was a size 32E.

Three weeks after the surgery, Lo said the incision under her left breast burst open. However, she claimed that her doctor reassured her there was nothing wrong. "I finally got a call from the doctor and he told me everything was fine after seeing the photos and I could just get some medical tape and pull the skin back together.”
A few days later, Lo noticed an “abnormal amount of swelling” where it looked like a huge pocket had developed around her breast. She said: “There was liquid in it. The liquid was making sloshing sounds and was moving around when I was in different positions. I would talk to the doctor every four or five days and he would gaslight me and say everything was fine. He made me feel like I was neurotic and I was overreacting.”
After seeking another opinion from a local doctor, Lo was told that the implants needed to be removed straight away. She said: "If I hadn't taken it upon myself to go and see another doctor, I would still have been sitting on that couch with my boobs basically rotting and with my other implant fully exposed by that point. My birthday present almost led to my death."
Lo claims the local doctor said the implants she had been given were too large for her small frame, which is what led to the incision splitting open. She said of the situation: “It's terrifying, my body is botched and I am going to be left scarred for life. I feel absolutely defeated, lied to and taken advantage of.”

She also claimed that it would impact her career, explaining: "I'm not able to work. I do wellness coaching and have an online presence where I look a certain way.
"I'm always in cute gym clothes and a sports bra. It now makes me feel very insecure about filming for my job. I also work in a restaurant and I can't do this at the moment because I'm not allowed to do any physical activity."
Despite the traumatic experience, Lo said she is hoping to get implants refitted again in two months, after her body has healed. She said: "I'm definitely going to get them redone. I've had them half my life and right now I don't recognise my body. I feel so insecure and unattractive.”
The wellness coach has now set up a fundraising page to support her financially while she is unable to work, and to seek legal representation following the ordeal.
