Liverpool's likely title parade plans and how fans will celebrate Premier League crown

Liverpool fans are gearing up to celebrate their side's impending title win. The Reds have been dominant throughout Arne Slot's first season as manager and they can claim officially crown themselves as champions on Sunday afternoon.

Slot's side will confirm their title win with four games to spare - all they have to do is avoid defeat to at Anfield. Arsenal's inconsistency has remained an issue and their draw in midweek against Crystal Palace further opened the door for the Reds.

Avoiding defeat on Merseyside will see Liverpool celebrate Premier League success for just the second time. Few expected them to challenge in the immediate aftermath of Jurgen Klopp's exit but Slot has produced a stellar year to take them to the summit.

It will be the 20th time have won the English top-flight, matching a record currently held by . The last time the Reds finished top was back in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

That meant they were unable to lift the trophy in front of their fans or even hold a trophy parade through the city. They will be able to do both this year though, with the Reds expected to lift the Premier League trophy following their final game of the season.

That comes against at Anfield on May 25 and will be the first time supporters will have actually seen their side lift the top-flight title in person since May 1990. While the club are yet to confirm plans for a parade, a look at the past gives an insight into what could happen.

Three years ago, Liverpool held a trophy parade after winning the and the Carabao Cup. The parade came the day after the final, which the Reds lost to in Paris.

The club will follow a similar strategy this year, with a title-winning parade to be held on 26 May. Back in 2022, the parade started at 4pm and followed a nine-mile route.

The three buses containing players and staff, as well as the trophies, drove past many of Liverpool's landmarks, with the parade finishing in the city centre. It was soundtracked by DJ and Liverpool fan Calvin Harris, who was on board the bus.

Harris currently has no commitments, though is in the process of announcing shows, so could well be available again. Smoke flares were released at the top the buildings down on Liverpool's waterfront as the parade ended its route, despite police requesting otherwise.

Fireworks also flashed off from the buildings that make up Liverpool's waterfront while confetti cannons turned the air red. There was a massive turnout, with people even standing on traffic lights to get a glimpse.
