Pamela Anderson was almost unrecognisable as she went make-up free to promote her new movie.

The 57-year-old actress has begun her long-awaited comeback after years away from the spotlight, and she’s earning rave reviews for her performance as a veteran dancer in Gia Coppola’s upcoming drama The Last Showgirl. Pamela is busy promoting the critically-acclaimed drama, and she appeared at an event in Spain looking fresh-faced and glowing.

The former Baywatch star rocked a floral dress and stilettos at the photocall in Kursaal, San Sebastian, ahead of a screening on The Last Showgirl. The star, who spoke out last year about ditching make-up for good, looked incredible as she smiled for the photographers while wearing a stunning floral dress teamed with a pair of chic heels. Pamela caused a stir when she arrived for the Vivienne Westwood show during Paris Fashion Week last year wearing no make-up, and she later explained why she had gone barefaced.

“I don't know, something just kind of came over me, and I was dressing in these beautiful clothes, and I thought, 'I don't want to compete with the clothes. I'm not trying to be the prettiest girl in the room. I feel like it's just freedom. It's a release,” the actress told Vogue. “I don't need a stylist. I don't have a stylist. I don't have a glam team. I'm just kind of doing this, freestyle.”

She said getting older in Hollywood made her put on a show of defiance against the high standards women in the industry have to adhere to. “I feel as a woman and a woman of my age, and a woman in the public eye... it's also your job to be a model of everything. Just all sorts of choices. So I am just being me,” Pamela explained.

The mother-of-two is also potentially a major awards contender thanks to her role in The Last Showgirl, which has impressed viewers and critics alike. In the movie, Pamela plays Shelly, a dancer in Las Vegas who has her life turned upside down when the casino she performs in closes suddenly.

Critic Kate Erbland from Indie Wire said Pamela was a “major, major contender” for the top awards, and wrote: “The Last Showgirl is both the role of a lifetime for Anderson, one that can fully capture her incredible emotional intensity and vulnerability and (we can only hope) the start of a brand new career for her.”
