Punjab Government Launches Rs 10 Lakh Cashless Health Insurance for Every Family: AAP's Big Welfare Move

In a landmark announcement, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has launched the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana, a cashless health insurance scheme providing up to Rs 10 lakh per year in medical coverage to every family in the state. The scheme is expected to benefit nearly 65 lakh families and will cover a total population of around 3 crore people.

What the Scheme Offers:

• Cashless health insurance of Rs 10 lakh annually per family

• Coverage in both government and private hospitals

• All types of diseases and treatments included

• Special inclusion of government employees, pensioners, Anganwadi & ASHA workers

• To be implemented within the next three months

• Health cards (MMSY cards) will be issued for cashless access

Bhagwant Mann & Arvind Kejriwal's Vision

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while announcing the scheme, said the aim is to ensure quality healthcare for every citizen without financial burden. “This is not a mere scheme; it is a commitment to the people of Punjab,” he said.

AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal called health and education the two most important pillars of nation-building, saying, “A country cannot progress unless every poor person has access to quality education and medical care. With this scheme, Punjab takes a giant step in that direction.”

How It Will Work:

• Every permanent resident of Punjab will receive a Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) card

• Treatment up to Rs 10 lakh can be availed cashlessly using this card

• Available at all empanelled government and private hospitals

• Includes coverage for inpatient treatment, surgeries, emergencies, and critical care

With this move, AAP aims to replicate its Delhi model of free healthcare on a larger scale in Punjab.
