BBC The Wheel: Emotional Jonathan Ross bursts into tears as fans left reeling

The show which sees celebrities use their expertise to help contestants win big introduced Hala, who hoped to take home the cash prize for a "proper wedding."

The sales associate explained she was hospitalised with a neurological disorder and therefore got married in a hospital bed and wanted to use the money to walk down the aisle and help those that helped her.

During the final round, Hala was asked: "Who was the usual bass guitarist in The Beetles," and thankfully landed on Jonathan Ross who shouted: ", 100 percent it was Paul McCartney.

"I even went to his house once, he let me play his bass," the TV star reassused the uncertain contestant.

Hala was shaking with emotions as she locked in the answer, which prompted Michael to ask: "Remind us what you'll be doing if you won today's show with this money?"

She answered: "It will literally change my life, I'll be getting married, I'll be helping people that have helped me.

"I've felt so guilty for the last 10 years with people helping me and I would be able to help them," Hala said through tears.

When Michael revealed she won the game show, Hala burst into tears which led to Jonathan to also start crying.

Viewers were also moved with emotion as they took to social media to share their thoughts, this included @michellepryde who penned: "Thrilled for Hala. Sobbing at her reaction the second Jonathan said he knew the answer."

Another viewer @ClaireWinslade added: "Awww Hala, so pleased she won the money."

@Cybernest remarked: "Oh my goodness, #TheWheel was quite emotional tonight. How lovely was Hala So pleased she won."

As @WhoPotterVian shared: "To be fair, I would have been utterly shocked if Jonathan Ross hadn't known that Beatles question."
