Chris Martin suffered an accident while performing live in Australia. The 47-year-old Coldplay star was on stage at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, as part of when he fell through a trapdoor.
As seen in clips shared to social media, the singer was addressing the audience when he walked backwards, before stumbling out of sight, on the final date of the on Sunday.
Someone appeared to reach out their arms to catch the star and he returned to the stage before thanking those who assisted him. Meanwhile, the concertgoers could be heard gasping as Martin stumbled out of view.
Martin reassured fans that "that's not planned" and thanked a production staff member for catching him, exclaiming: "Holy s**t, that was nearly a moment."
He added: "I did not know that hole was there." Despite the mishap, the singer carried on with the show and seemed to be unharmed.
It came after the band secured the biggest opening week for a UK act in the last three years with their 10th studio album Moon Music last month. The album became the band's 10th consecutive chart-topper after it achieved 237,000 UK chart units.
In a surprising revelation, Chris recently shared that the band plan to retire after their 12th album. The news came as the band were promoting their highly anticipated 10th album, , which released back in October of this year.
Speaking to Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Chris said: "We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that's real. Yeah, I promise," he stated. He humorously added: "Less is more. It's really important that we have that limit."
He went on to explain: "Having that limit means that the quality control is high right now, and for a song to make it, it's almost impossible, which is great."
Back in 2021, Martin hinted at the future trajectory of the band, revealing that they would release their final album in 2025.
Following that, he suggested that while they would remain together, they would likely focus on touring rather than creating new material.
