Countryfile star Matt Baker has revealed a "tricky" family predicament involving his two children as he and his wife plan a permanent relocation. The beloved presenter's future plans were unveiled in a recent interview, where he shared his intention to settle in one place once his children reach a significant educational milestone, as it will "always" be home.
Matt, an avid farmer, divides his time between his smallholding in the south and his family farm in Durham. He shares his life with his wife of more than two decades, Nicola, and their two children, Luke and Molly. However, balancing the two locations has been "tricky," particularly concerning his teenagers' schooling. Nevertheless, the former One Show host plans to put his aspirations into motion once his children fly the coop.

Speaking to Luxe Magazine, Matt said: "It's been tricky with the kids at school. But we've always said, once they're off to university, that's our time to come back up permanently. It's always been the plan. The North East is home, and it always will be."
The former Blue Peter presenter caused a stir when he chose to leave his role on the One Show, hoping to create programmes centred around farming. He has previously spoken enthusiastically about his love for country living.
Speaking to Total TV Guide, Matt explained that the countryside had made him who he is and that he loves the "pace of nature" and "how the seasons change." In fact, he even confessed to leading a "double life."
The star of Our Dream Farm stated: "The countryside has made me who I am. I love the pace of nature; how the seasons change, and it's really important. I am immersed in farming. I live a double life actually. When I'm not on telly, I'm out in the fields."
He went on to express his immense pride in this world, stating his desire to create television programmes about it. Matt also suggested that he is at his "most creative" when in the countryside.

In other news, Matt recently took to social media to celebrate his wife, who has just launched a new children's book, Rescuing Ruby. He posted a video of Nicola in a woodland setting, holding a copy of her book.
Nicola said: "It's the second story in the Whistledown Adventure Series, and it's the second one I've written."
Her followers were quick to show their support in the comments section, but it was Matt who spoke first. "Very proud husband," the TV personality wrote.
One admirer commented: "Such a great story, Nicola, well done. Loved this one."
Another added: "Great book and great name!" Furthermore, a third follower mentioned that the book looked "beautiful" and they would "definitely be taking" it to school.
You can next catch Matt on Countryfile on BBC One on Sunday, September 7, from 6:10pm to 7:10pm.
