Born in Rochdale in April 1968, Ginny, now 56, relocated to Australia at the tender age of 18. Her presenting career had already taken off, having joined BBC local radio in Manchester when she was just 12 years old.
During her late teens, while residing in Sydney, she worked in commercial radio before making her return to England in 1991. Among her career highlights is the establishment of a multi-channel media platform, Electrifying.com, in March 2020.
This venture saw experts in electric cars providing straightforward advice to those considering making the switch. Fans may also be intrigued to learn that Ginny has dabbled in acting, playing a newsreader on The Bill in 2008.
In terms of her personal life, she currently resides in Shiplake with her son Zak and their cocker spaniel, Ziggy. In 2021, she confessed to falling in love with the area upon her first visit, reports .
She frequently enjoys walks along the Thames Path and other popular routes with her family, and can often be seen stand-up paddleboarding along the river during the summer months.
Ginny has also been a vocal advocate for the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill in Parliament, which calls for legally binding measures to reduce Britain's greenhouse gas emissions and restrict global heating to no more than 1.5C.
The star revealed to the Henley Standard her deep affection for her home: "I moved here without even visiting Henley. I was sold purely on the charm of this village, which I absolutely adore because of its proximity to the river and great walks on the doorstep."
"I first popped into Henley after moving and immediately realised how lucky I was to not only have more space and a better quality of life but also this beautiful and historic market town just a few minutes away."
She shared that her son, now in his early teens, shares her passion for environmental conservation.
The journalist and presenter detailed how Zak would join his friends on the river, collecting rubbish from the water.
He celebrated his 15th birthday in August this year and Ginny honoured him on her Instagram page, writing: "And just like that my beautiful boy is 15 and taller than me! ".
