Fortnite fans are counting down to the release of update 31.30 on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android. The third major content update of the current season will introduce new gameplay features, add new items and skins to the game files, and set things up for the upcoming Fortnitemares Halloween event later this month. Update 31.30 has an October 1 release date, although the new content won't actually be available to play until after an extended period of server downtime. According to Fortnite developer Epic Games, server maintenance is scheduled to begin at 9am BST UK time, although matchmaking will be disabled at around 8.30am BST.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X, alongside details about one of the new features coming as part of version 31.30.
"Downtime for v31.30 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand," Epic explains.

In addition to Sleep Mode, Epic is expected to add game files for the Fortnitemares Halloween event. It's worth pointing out, however, that Fortnitemares isn't expected to launch until after the next big update.
Elsewhere, Epic Games has announced plans to bring TMNT to Creative, while Fortnite insider Shiina claims former NBA player Shaq will also join the game this week.
There's also speculation about a mini event, as well as rumours of additional Marvel crossovers.

NEW FEATURES
• Sleep mode
- Fortnite will go into Sleep Mode after a player is inactive for 15 minutes, letting your squad know you stepped away
- When in Sleep Mode, Voice Chat is paused and matchmaking is canceled.

GENERAL
• Built-In Emotes do not play in Creative / UEFN Experiences.
- We're investigating an issue where built-in emotes, emotes attached to certain Outfits only, do not play when in a Creative or UEFN experience.
BATTLE ROYALE
• Pickaxes may not deal any damage on hit.
- After playing other game modes and then loading into Battle Royale, Pickaxes may not deal any damage while in a match.
• The setting 'Lock Input Method as Mouse' is not working correctly
- The Lock Mouse Input setting may not function as intended
LEGO Fortnite
• Players may get stuck in a cannon if its damaged or falls into water while operating it.
- Players may remain in 'cannon control mode' if damaged while loaded into a cannon or remain in sitting position if in a cannon seat while it falls into water.
• Barn Assignments may appear broken when interacting with one while a Klombo is following you.
- Players may see a 'Following Unnamed Pawn' entry when trying to assign Klombo to a barn.
• Additional heart slots may disappear on elimination with Slurp Juice and Health Charms.
- When a player has 3 Health Charms equipped, is under the effects of Slurp Juice and gets eliminated, the additional heart slots granted by the Charms may be lost instead of remaining as gray hearts.
• Bottom of HUD can disappear after using macrobinoculars.
- After using macrobinoculars, the bottom portion of HUD may sometimes disappear.
FORTNITE MOBILE
• The screen may flicker on certain Android devices.
- When interacting with the screen, players may be seeing pixelized or flickering glitch patterns - we'll update this card once we have a confirmed fix.
