Adam Hadwin's wife has poked fun at the golfer after he admitted that his opinion on a merger between the and does not matter. The Canadian is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour but accepts he has to give himself an 'ego check' before voicing his views on the sport's business.
PGA and LIV chiefs over a merger for 16 months. It was announced in the summer of 2023 that a 'framework agreement' had been put in place for both tours to co-exist in a partnership.
Some PGA stars have been outspoken about a potential merger. However, Hadwin believes he has little say in what happens and insists he is not entirely clued up on the negotiations between all parties.
He said: "I have learned over this past year and a half that I do not really have much of a say, which, at some points, I'm OK with. I try and liken what's going on right now to a Fortune 500 company or a two or three-billion-dollar revenue company.
"At some point, the guys that work for it are not going to know what's going on."
Hadwin says he has opinions on what should happen but accepts that they do not matter.
The 36-year-old continued: "Of course, I have opinions and stuff, but I don't think they matter. You hate to say that, but it's a bit of an ego check sometimes. Honestly, I have no idea what's going on."
That comment brought great amusement to his wife, Jessica, who joked that she would have fewer disputes with her husband if he took a similar stance. She quipped on X: "If he said this more often at home we would have less marital disputes."
Other golfers have agreed with Hadwin's view. Earlier this year, former champion Lucas Glover said PGA players had little business telling senior executives how to run the sport.
The 44-year-old, speaking on his own radio show, added: "Tour players play golf. Businessmen run business. They don't tell us how to hit seven-irons. We shouldn't be telling them how to run a business."
Meanwhile, claims that LIV Golf chiefs . The 69-year-old has been in his position since the Saudi-backed tour was founded in 2022, but he could step aside into another leadership role.
