Jeremy Clarkson undergoes heart surgery after sudden health 'deterioration'

TV icon has disclosed in his Sunday Times column that he recently underwent a following a "sudden deterioration" in his health. The seasoned broadcaster and host of the acclaimed series on Prime Video, now 64, reflected upon what he described as the "wearisome effects of growing old".

During a vacation in the Indian Ocean, an attempt at swimming seemed to trigger trouble with climbing stairs for Clarkson. This issue escalated quickly upon his return to Britain. He experienced symptoms such as being "clammy", "tightness in my chest", along with "pins and needles in my left arm". Following the distressing news about Alex Salmond's fatal , Clarkson promptly sought medical advice.

The journey to ended in an ambulance, where thankfully, a heart attack was ruled out post an ECG, blood tests, and X-rays. Nonetheless, further examinations led him to an "operating theatre" where doctors discovered one of his arteries was completely blocked, and another almost there, nearly making him severely ill.

A life-saving stent was placed within two hours, which potentially prevented future heart attacks by enhancing blood flow to the heart.

The motoring expert commented, "It wasn't especially painful. Just odd," and reflected, "Crikey, that was close."

Clarkson also noted his dietary deliberations post-incident, musing on "wondering what water tastes like and if it's possible to make celery interesting" after contemplating reducing his meat consumption. He has opened up in the past about giving up smoking when he contracted pneumonia while on holiday in Spain.

Last month marked an end of an era for Clarkson, along with colleagues Richard Hammond and James May, as they stepped away from The Grand Tour on Prime Video. However, Clarkson has remained active on screen with 'Clarkson's Farm,' documenting his agricultural ventures in Oxfordshire on Prime Video, and continuing his stint on ITV's 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Recently, Clarkson ventured into the hospitality business, opening a pub named The Farmer's Dog in Asthall near Burford, not far from his Chipping Norton residence.
