talent showcased his sense of humour offering a hilariously honest answer when asked what his net worth is. The 22-year-old is gearing up for only his seventh race start today (Sunday, October 20) when he lines up alongside VCARB team-mate Yuki Tsunoda at the United States Grand Prix, having qualified in 15th place.

Having impressed last season for AlphaTauri when deputising for an injured Daniel Ricciardo, the New Zealander has since replaced the Aussie veteran, who was axed by the Red Bull sister team after the Singapore Grand Prix, in which he finished 18th in.

Lawson now has six races to convince Red Bull of his capability to have a permanent seat on the grid that would certainly boost his bank balance, which is seriously lacking, according to the man himself. "It's all performance-based, and that's basically how they'll be looking at it. Obviously, Yuki's done a very good job the last couple of years, and especially this year. He's the benchmark for them to compare me against; he's the only one in the same car as me. So I'll be directly compared with him.

"I guess the goal or the expectation from them is for me to compete alongside him. In terms of where that sets me out for next year or in the future, I have absolutely no idea. But that's the target that's been set out."
