Liverpool 'looking at £35m Premier League left-back' to replace Andy Robertson

Liverpool have reportedly identified a £35million-rated Premier League left-back as Andy Robertson's long-term replacement.

Robertson has been a mainstay in the Liverpool side after penning a move from Hull City in 2017 and has since notched up over 300 appearances for the club.

Holding down the left-flank during one of Liverpool's greatest-ever sides, Robertson has won several major honours in Merseyside, including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League one year later.

But now into his thirties, it's claimed Liverpool are starting to plan for the future, with Antonee Robinson earmarked as a potential replacement.

That's according to The Sun, who have detailed Liverpool's interest as firm, but any attempts to sign the Fulham man could be met by stern competition from Manchester United.

The report claims the Red Devils themselves are keen to bolster their left-back options, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia yet to feature at all this season.

It's forced Erik ten Hag to play one of his other defenders out of position - something the Dutchman is keen to address.

There is talk United could even spring a move for Robinson as early as January, meaning Liverpool would have to move just as quick if they wish to secure the USA international's services.

Based on the pair's early starts to the season, it would appear Robinson might find more success at Liverpool, with the Reds already five points and 10 places ahead of their North-West rivals.

But with Robertson still under contract until the end of next season, Robinson could find his game time more limited at Anfield, compared to the currently left-back-less United.

However, Fulham will likely demand a healthy payday if they're to let Robinson depart either in January or next summer, with the defender revered by Cottagers boss Marco Silva.

Commenting on the 27-year-old's quality last month, Silva said: "Last season he was one of the best players of the season. You know, he never stops. He went to the Copa America after a long and a tough season and then had two small surgeries.

"He came directly to London to have a small surgery on his wrist, and then something on his groin. Afterwards, he was able to start the Premier League after two or three weeks.

"The way he started last week [vs Man United], he's a great great athlete. He's a crucial crucial player for us.

"If he keeps improving then it will be another big season ahead for him. A great assist, great decision to do it first time for Iwobi. He has to really like his performance."

Robinson is contracted to Fulham until the summer of 2028.
