King Charles has taken measures to remove Andrew Mountbatten Windsor from royal life completely this week. On Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch would strip Andrew formally of all his royal titles, including that of "prince".
The statement also revealed that the King will move his brother from Royal Lodge in Windsor and house him in a property on the monarch's private Sandringham estate instead. This was seen as a necessary move, with public outcry about Andrew continuing as a result of his previous friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
For years, Andrew, 65, has been entangled in a number of scandals surrounding his friendship with Epstein, which has led to accusations being made against the prince - which he has always strongly denied.
This included accusations by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffree, who claimed Andrew slept with her three times when she was just 17.
Andrew has always denied these claims and came to an out-of-court settlement with Giuffree when she sued him in a US court.
The former prince made this settlement with no admission of liability.
Andrew has never given any evidence about what he knows about Epstein in a US court, something that many now want to happen.
Just last week, it was reported that Andrew could be summoned to give evidence about his links to Epstein in front of a US committee.
As Andrew is a UK citizen, it is his choice whether or not to give evidence in the US to the committee, which is currently examining documents regarding Epstein and his actions.
Stephen Lynch, a senior member of the US House Oversight Committee, told presenter Victoria Derbyshire on the BBC's Newsnight: "We would be extremely interested in hearing from Prince Andrew regarding his involvement in all of this, yes."
It is believed an invite is likely to be sent to the prince.
