developer is taking the game offline for server maintenance alongside the release of update 35.20. The latest period of server downtime kicks off at 9am BST UK time on the morning of May 29.
While server downtime is never a good thing, fans can at least download and install a new update during the maintenance. You'll need to install the update in order to play the game once server downtime comes to an end.

The news was announced by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter), alongside a confirmation of the server downtime.
"Rain destruction from above!" reads an Epic tweet. "Downtime for v35.20 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand."
For UK fans, this means that Fortnite will be taken offline in full at 9am BST, while matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am UK time.
Epic hasn't revealed exactly when downtime will come to an end, but maintenance typically lasts for 2-3 hours.
This means Fortnite and all companion game modes should be back online from 11am BST UK time at the earliest.

In terms of what fans can expect, the headline new feature is the introduction of the Star Destroyer from .
Players will be able to assume control of the Star Destroyer and fire turbolasers at opponents on the battleground.
Epic explains more: "On May 29, assume control of a Star Destroyer's turbolaser and lay waste from above!
"A single portal to the Star Destroyer's control room will spawn every match - be the first to reach it and the capital ship is yours."
Elsewhere, Sith Rey will be added to the item shop, while files for the upcoming live event should leak.
