As the wait continues for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to announce the retention rules for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season with a mega auction coming up, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Devon Conway dropped a majot hint on his future. For those unversed, the 10 IPL teams are set for a dramatic overhaul in the 2025 season, with most players set to enter the auction. However, the Indian cricket governing body is yet to reveal the rules for the mega auction, the number of players each team will be allowed to retain, and if the Right to Match (RTM) card will make a comeback. One team that is in focus from the entire world is Chennai Super Kings (CSK), with former skipper and legendary Indian wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni's future still not certain. The 43-year-old had hinted in an interaction that whether he plays another year or retires will depend on the rules.
Will CSK Retain Devon Conway? Regardless of Dhoni's decision, CSK still have some big decisions to make in a star-studded squad with a plethora of options to choose from and limited retention spots. With Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana, Mateehsa Theekshana, and Mustafizur Rahman in their ranks, the five-time champions will have to release some quality players. Meanwhile, Conway has dropped a major hint on his future after being questioned by a fan. During the ongoing Galle Test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, a spectactor questioned Conway if he would stay at CSK. Devon Conway's Record For CSKConway joined CSK in the 2022 IPL mega auction has been incredible consistent for them and formed a reliable opening pair alongside Gaikwad. Conway played seven matches for the Chennai-based franchise in 2022 and made 252 runs which included three-half-centuries.
