Former President Jimmy Carter turned 100 in October and is in hospice care. His grandson Jason Carter told an Atlanta, Georgia-based news outlet that the oldest president in American history has done his bit for the November election. Carter had told his family he wanted to live long enough to vote for Kamala Harris. Now, he has achieved it.With the elections just a few weeks away, early voting began in the state of Georgia on October 16. As per a report by MeidasTouch Network, Carter can now achieve the goal of living long enough to vote for Kamala Harris. The 39th president of the United States, who led the White House from 1977 to 1981 - during the tumultuous years of the Cold War period. A Georgia native, Carter also served as the 76th governor of Georgia as well as a Senator from the state. As per his grandson, the president is doing his best to stay abreast of the politics in the country as well as globally. Back in August, Jason Carter had said his grandfather was following and was "very alert" about the US election and the ongoing war in Gaza. He was "experiencing the world as best he can as he continues through this process," Jason Carter had said. Carter has been suffering from metastatic brain cancer for a long time. In February last year, he was put in hospice care and has been receiving treatment since. Despite being in hospice care, he has been doing his duty as a citizen of the United States, having voted in the Georgia Democratic primaries in May.His wife, Lady Rosalynn Carter, passed away in November of 2023.
