Actor Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are celebrating their 12th marriage anniversary today. The two tied the know on October 16, 2012 and share two sons Taimur and Jeh. The two, along with their adorable sons were seen at the airport, as they jetted off for a holiday on the occasion of their anniversary. Sustaining a marriage that lasts long is graceful and this couple has not only done that, but it has also done a great job at parenting. As both are working parents, it is important that both stay there for each other to balance out the burden that parenting can give sometimes. Here are 5 parenting lessons, we all can learn from this super couple as they go on to celebrate their 12 years together:
The 'Buying Two' TrickIn an interview, Kareena Kapoor once shared that the trick to deal with two boys at home is to "buy two of everything". This will help them get along and take a keen interest in each other's toys, food, or whatever it may be. She also said that she always tells her husband, Saif, to get two, whatever it may be. The Right BalanceAs both the parents are working, sometimes it gets a lot to be at home and parent. However, whenever the need has come, they have always managed and prioritised parenting and respected the partner's busy schedule. The key here is communication. Kareena, in one of her interviews also said that Saif and her had made a pact that whenever one of them is busy, the other would try not to work on a film or any other project during that time.
Quality TimeThe actress also shared how she learned to spend quality time with her children, which is way more important than the quantity of time spent together. "Because children want focus from their parents, their teachers, from their friends, that is what they need," she said.Saif too shared the same belief and said that the key for him was also the quality time he spends with each of his children. For him, he prefers to spend time individually, rather than in just a group. So, everyone gets his sole attention. The Act Of ObservationThe couple knows that kids learn when they observe, so they have decided that in order to teach something to them, it is important that they do it first. At a conversation at the Kareena Kapoor Khan Film Festival, the actress talked about regulating screen time and said, "I guess they learn from example, there is no other way."So, in order to get that right, the couple now reads instead of watching TV. Be The Example"Saif always tells me that we talk to each other with love, and therefore our children will talk to each other and others with love," she said. This is why they both ensure that their actions are defined to be a good and positive example that can help their children learn from them.
