Heritage Foundation, the conservative think tank behind the infamous 'Project 2025,' has shared a police report of a Springfield, Ohio resident reporting their missing cat and alleging that her Haitian neighbours have eaten it. As per the report shared on the X account of Project Oversight, an organisation under the ambit of Heritage Foundation, the woman said that her cat has been missing for days and she has "found meat," and suspects that her Haitian neighbours have eaten eat. In the shared police report, it clearly states that there is no evidence of Haitians eating the woman's cats, or for that matter, whether the said meat actually is from the cat.

Springfield, Ohio has been a center of controversy ever since Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, have doubled down on rumours that Haitians in Springfield are eating pet cats and ducks, despite Springfield police confirming repeatedly that there have been no such claims. Following the footsteps of the GOP ticket, other prominent Republicans and conservative influencers on social media have amplified the claims. In the report shared by Project Oversight, the woman, named Anna, found unidentified 'meat' in her backyard, which she thinks could be from her cat, though no bones or fur were present. Officers spoke to her, but there was no evidence to support her claim. Anna reported that kept the meat in her fridge, hoping to get it cremated. One of the responding officers has written in the report: "Spoke to Anna. She advised on 8-24-24 her cat went missing and has not been seen since. She found "meat" in the backyard, thinks it was from her cat. No bones or fur around the "meat." She suspects the Haitian neighbors. "No evidence to support this claim. Unknown if the meat she had was actually cat meat. Anna had collected the meat and put it in her fridge in hopes to get it cremated."
