Chennai: The city's first AC suburban train will roll out from Saturday with limited stops and a split schedule.
There will be three up-and-down trips daily—two full-length runs between Chennai Beach and Chengalpet and one shorter run between Chennai Beach and Tambaram. These services will run in two sessions— morning and evening — with a nearly five-hour break in between for routine maintenance. It will halt at only 12 major stations, including Mambalam, Guindy, St Thomas Mount, Tambaram, Perungalathur, Guduvancheri, Potheri, and Paranur.
A day after TOI reported the delay in launching the AC EMU rake, Southern Railway has confirmed the train will begin operations from Saturday. tnn
