Indore: District administration on Tuesday launched a crackdown on transporters causing traffic obstruction and seized 30 buses from different locations.
"As a part of sustained campaign for improvement of traffic in Indore, 30 buses parked haphazardly on the city roads were seized on Tuesday," RTO Pradeep Kumar Sharma said.
He said that Collector Asheesh Singh had already instructed bus operators to refrain from obstructing traffic by parking buses in a disorganised manner on roads and to park their vehicles only at authorised locations.
"A joint operation was conducted by district administration, regional transport office, and traffic police. Buses found obstructing traffic on roads were seized," he said, adding that intensive checking of buses was carried out at Madhumilan Square, Jhabua Tower, Pipliyahana, Ring Road, Teen Imli Square, and Gangwal Bus Stand.
During the operation, vehicle fitness, permits, insurance, pollution under control certificates, and tax receipts were also inspected. Overloading and overcharging by buses were also checked. Action was taken against 30 buses for not possessing necessary documents, carrying passengers beyond capacity, violating permit conditions, and being parked haphazardly, leading to their seizure and impoundment at Regional Transport Office, Indore.
