Jaipur: Traders in Khatipura continued dismantling their properties or structures marked as encroachments on Tuesday as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is set to start its demolition drive on Wednesday. The demolition is being undertaken for road widening from Jharkhand Mahadev Temple Mod intersection to the 200-ft Bypass.

Jaipur Development Commissioner Anandi said that in compliance with the order passed in writ petition number 17971/2022 by the Rajasthan High Court, the JDA is working on widening the road from Jharkhand Mode intersection to Khatipura intersection up to the 200-foot bypass according to the zonal development plan.

"For this action, JDA has formed five teams, including deputy commissioner, ATP, tehsildar, engineer, and enforcement officer. On April 5, the teams formed by JDA marked the route according to the zonal development plan. The teams completed the necessary marking work on-site. On April 8, the teams also communicated with local traders and residents, informing them to remove illegal encroachments from the road limits," said the commissioner.

Officials added that JDA appealed to residents and traders to remove all encroachments by Wednesday when the authority will start the demolition drive. Officials also mentioned that resources like JCB have been provided by JDA to help the general public remove encroachments. Traders started removing the encroachments before starting of the demolition drive to avoid substantial penalties levied as recovery charges by JDA.

"This step is likely to improve city's traffic system, and with the cooperation of residents and traders, the work is being completed more effectively," said a senior official.
