'Stree 2' director Amar Kaushik picks Alia Bhatt over Deepika Padukone as the better actress

Bollywood is full of debates and fan wars, but one question always pops up: who’s the better actress. This time the two names that were put up in front of ‘Stree 2’ Director Amar Kaushik were Deepika Padukone or Alia Bhatt? Both have proven themselves time and again, with incredible performances and a massive fan following.

Amar Kaushik picks Alia Bhatt
Amar Kaushik, best known for his work in the horror-comedy genre, was the latest to share his thoughts. In a chat with Komal Nahta on his show Game Changers, Kaushik took part in a fun rapid-fire round. When asked who he thought was the better actress between Deepika and Alia, Amar paused for a moment and said, “Mujhe dono ke saath kaam karna hai” (I want to work with both of them). Still, he ended up choosing Alia Bhatt.

This choice has sparked excitement, especially since Kaushik has never worked with either actress before. Even though Amar picked Alia, he has spoken warmly about Deepika Padukone in the past. During Pinkvilla’s Directors Roundtable in 2024, he revealed what kind of film he would like to make with her.He said he’d love to do a comedy similar to Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika’s hit film ‘Chennai Express’.

Amar Kaushik's success with 'Stree 2' has been nothing short of phenomenal. The film, astarring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, not only met but exceeded expectations at the box office. He’s now producing ‘Thama’, the next film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The movie is set to release on Diwali 2025 and brings vampires into the mix.

The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, with Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui also on board. The backdrop of ‘Thama’ is darker and more romantic, and it promises a new kind of spooky love story.
