Jalen Milroe delays jersey number pick for all the right reasons
Being a newly drafted QB, Milroe has a lot to prove as the NFL 2025 season approaches. The attention panning over Milroe recently is due to his commendable remark for the reason behind not picking a jersey number. The 92nd overall pick by the Seahawks has exceeded the expectations of the fans and media alike with his utmost respect towards the veteran players on his new team.
Before being drafted by the Seahawks, the QB wore a No. 4 jersey, which has now changed to No. 6 upon his drafting to the team. While being in a usual media session, Milroe had something to say about the change in his jersey number and why it does not bother him. The 22-year-old QB stated, “I didn't select the number. I know there's vets on the team. I'm going to pay respect to them. They've been here before me. When the time comes, I will select the number.”
This humble remark from Milroe gained the required respect from the fans. While reacting to Milroe’s remark, one fan stated, “class act, future all pro.”
Another fan stated, “Best rookie QB.”
By choosing to define himself for his act of respect and not by a jersey number, Milroe seems to be leading on a bright path. His decision might not seem huge for many; however, his gesture as a teammate stands as a leading example of subtle off-field teamwork.
