Shortly after the win against the Los Angeles Kings , Connor McDavid and his team, the Edmonton Oilers , have put their focus on winning the playoff series against the Vegas Golden Knights . While many fans were excited by seeing the Oilers beat the Kings, many are stressed about the team facing the Vegas Golden Knights. Amidst this, Connor McDavid spoke about facing the Knights and about “learning lessons”.
Connor McDavid spoke about the “lessons” that the Edmonton Oilers have learnt as they gear up to face the Vegas Golden Knights
On Sunday, after the Edmonton Oilers practised for their match against the Vegas Golden Knights, Connor McDavid spoke to the media as he reflected about how his team had lost in the playoffs previously.
Connor McDavid said, “It’s difficult anytime you lose in the playoffs, especially when you feel you had a good team. We felt we had a good team then, and obviously they had a great team as well.”
He added, “We feel like we have another good team and as good a chance as anyone, so looking forward to getting to Vegas and getting started….But we’ve got to find a way to start the series better. We got to learn from our failures, and that was one of them.”
It seems like Connor McDavid is referring to the time in 2023 when the Edmonton Oilers had previously faced the Vegas Golden Knights in the playoff series but faced a devastating loss against them.
When the Edmonton Oilers started playing against the Los Angeles Kings in the playoff series, they had a number of players recovering from injuries and it affected the team’s performance, even though they recorded a strong performance at the end and defeated the Kings.
But as the Edmonton Oilers gear up to face the Vegas Golden Knights, currently, only Mattias Ekholm has been ruled out due to an undisclosed injury.
With both the teams gearing up, there are many different emotions at the moment. A fan took to X and posted, “Glad Edmonton won, but Jesus Christ they need to be wayyy better if they want to get past Vegas. Seriously. They were sloppy for 5/6 games. They got away with it vs LA (barely), they won’t get away with it vs Vegas”.
Another fan wrote, “Bring it home, boys. From a life long Kings fan. We’re now rooting for ya”.
The Edmonton Oilers vs Vegas Golden Knights playoff match begins on Tuesday night.

"It's supposed to be a fast kind of skating penalty kill, one that puts a lot of pressure on teams. I can move pretty well, so if I can help in any way, I'm willing to do that."
