Popular messaging app WhatsApp is introducing on a new feature which will enhance the user experience. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned app is rolling too a feature which mimics the traditional voicemail functionality and will enable users to leave a voice message when a call goes unanswered. The update is part of WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.23.21, and is currently available to select beta testers.
Voice messages for missed calls
As per the report, With this feature, users can now record and send a voice message immediately after a missed call, streamlining communication without needing to schedule another call or type out a text. A dedicated prompt appears at the bottom of the calling interface , inviting users to leave a quick voice note. The same shortcut is also visible in the chat where the missed call occurred, making the process seamless and context-aware.
Once recorded, the voice message is sent directly within the conversation, and the missed call notification remains visible—ensuring the recipient is aware of both the missed call and the accompanying message.
This voicemail-like feature is designed to enhance convenience, especially in situations where immediate follow-up is needed. For example, users can leave urgent updates or explanations when the recipient is unavailable, making it easier to stay connected without delay.
