Delhi International Airport issued an alert on Friday regarding potential flight delays caused by changing wind patterns near the airport.
The notice, released at 9.26 am, indicated that flight arrival management measures will be implemented from 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm to maintain operational safety, adhering to international and regulatory standards.
"Due to shifting wind pattern in the vicinity of the airport, certain airline operations may experience delays. Air traffic flow management measures for Flight Arrivals will be implemented from 1230 IST to 1630 IST today at ATC authorities to ensure safe operations, in accordance with international and regulatory protocols, keeping passenger safety as the highest priority," it said in its statement.
"All other operations across terminals and the three runways at Delhi Airport continue to function normally. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective Airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding," it further added. Although airport authorities had earlier announced that the Indira Gandhi International Airport 's terminal 2 will be shut until further notice.
This comes as the the IMD weather forecast suggests considerable wind activity in the capital throughout Friday. Then, for April 19, the forecast includes thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface winds, alongside potential light to very light rainfall. Strong surface winds are also expected to continue through daytime hours on April 20.
