"We believe that it is a natural consequence of Pakistan’s oppressive approach and systemic plundering of resources from these territories, which remain under its forcible and illegal occupation," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said. Madras HC forms SIT to probe Karur stampede case
The HC confirmed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives on September 27. The court also imposed a ban on political rallies along state and national highways in Tamil Nadu until Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are established.
Additionally, the court dismissed BJP leader Uma Anandan’s plea for a CBI investigation into the Vijay rally stampede. It has reserved its decision on anticipatory bail pleas filed by TVK party functionaries in connection with the incident. Read full story
Delhi 'godman' case: Chaitanyananda remanded to 14-day judicial custody
Self-styled godman Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Parth Sarthy, was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by a Delhi court following the completion of his five-day police custody. The 62-year-old was arrested from Agra on September 28 and faces allegations of molesting 17 female PGDM students studying under the EWS scholarship at a private Delhi institute.
The court has also sought a response from Delhi police on three applications filed on behalf of Chaitanyananda, in which he requested access to the seizure memo, permission to sign the case diary, and provision of specific items including Sanyasi food, traditional attire, prescribed medicines, and religious books.
