NEW DELHI: Calling India's rise in Global Innovation Index 2024 to 39th position a 'remarkable feat', PM Narendra Modi Friday posted on X that his government is committed to ensuring "a vibrant innovation ecosystem , which can transform lives of the youth".
India has improved its ranking from 81 in 2015 to 39 in 2024 among 133 global economies. Last year, it figured at 40th position. India, however, ranks first among 10 economies in Central and Southern Asia region, and also first among the 38 lower-middle-income economies.
GII 2024, released by World Intellectual Property Organisation's ( WIPO ) Thursday, evaluates innovation ecosystem performance of 133 economies tracking latest global innovation trends. It shows that China, Turkey, India, Vietnam, and Philippines are fastest climbers over the past decade.
