"Reddy's life and work reflect the spirit of our Constitution, a commitment to fairness, compassion, and the empowerment of every citizen," he added.

The Vice Presidential post fell vacant after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on July 21 citing health reasons.
The Vice President is elected by an electoral college comprising MPs from both Houses of Parliament. The election is conducted under Articles 64 and 68 of the Constitution, as per the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Act, 1952.
