NEW DELHI: An eight-year-old award-winning photographer again amazed the netizens when she made an incredible discovery of a rare pink grasshopper.

Jamie , a photographer from the UK , shared her discovery in a heartwarming video on Instagram and wrote a caption, "A rare find by Jamie - Eagle Eyed Girl A Pink Grasshopper! The pink is due to a genetic mutation."

With infectious enthusiasm, Jamie explains the rarity of this encounter, noting that only 1% of people may have the chance to witness such a phenomenon in their lifetime.

She goes on to reveal the scientific reason behind the grasshopper's unique coloration, attributing it to a genetic mutation that causes an overproduction of pink pigment and an underproduction of black.

''Wow, I just found a pink grasshopper. There's like 1% of people can see pink grasshoppers in their lifetime. So, I am so lucky to be able to see it. Pink grasshoppers, the reason why they are pink is because of their genetic aberration, which means they produce too much pink pigment and not enough black. That's why there's so much pink,'' she explains in the video.

Jamie's exceptional find has resonated with social media users, who have showered her with praise for her talent and genuine curiosity about the natural world.

Her video went viral with people commenting like "We need more kids like this who are in touch with nature and know their stuff. Her parents are doing a great job."

Meanwhile another user said, "Let her become the new David Attenborough."

A netizen wrote, "You remind me of the national Geographic narrator."
