NEW DELHI: Akil Khan, the accused in the alleged molestation of two Australian women cricketers in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has been taken on a two-day police remand, officials said.
Video footage showed the accused limping with injuries to his hand and leg.
Video He was arrested following an “Intensive Strategic Operation,” confirmed Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.
The accused has been booked under Sections 74 and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, according to MIG Police Station in-charge CB Singh.

The cricketers, who arrived in Indore on 17 October to play a group match against South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup, were allegedly accosted while walking from their hotel to a café in the city’s Saket area.
The incident occurred around 11am near Vijay Nagar, approximately 500 metres from the team hotel.
According to the FIR filed by team official Simmons, the players were approached by a bikeborne man who tried to grab one of them and touched another inappropriately before fleeing. One of the players sent a live location alert at 11.08am, describing the incident as an emergency.
The accused was described as around 30 years old, wearing a white shirt and black cap, riding a black motorcycle without a helmet. Police are investigating the case and tracing all leads related to the incident.
