New Delhi If you’re planning an international trip or aiming to study or work abroad, your passport is the most crucial document you’ll need. In a major development, the Government of India has made the passport application process more seamless and fully digital. You can now apply for a passport from the comfort of your home with just a few clicks.

Start Your Passport Application Online

To begin the process, visit the official website , the government-authorized platform for all passport-related services.

New users must register by clicking on “New User? Register Now” and entering basic information such as name, date of birth, email, and mobile number. Once registered, you’ll receive a User ID and password to log in.

Fill Out the Application and Book Your Appointment

After logging in, select “Apply for Fresh Passport” or “Reissue of Passport” depending on your requirement. Fill out the online form with your personal details, contact information, parental data, and educational background.

Once the form is submitted, navigate to the ‘Pay and Schedule Appointment’ section. Choose the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) and pick a convenient time slot.

Make Payment and Prepare Required Documents

The application fee can be paid online through net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI.

Before heading to your appointment, ensure you have the following documents:

  • Proof of Identity: Aadhaar card, voter ID, or PAN card

  • Birth Certificate: Mandatory for applicants under 18

  • Proof of Address: Electricity bill, water bill, bank statement, or ration card

On the scheduled date, visit your selected PSK or POPSK. At the center, you will undergo biometric verification and document authentication.
