April 30, 2025 Ubisoft has rolled out a significant performance update for its open-world shooter Far Cry 4, unlocking 60 frames per second gameplay on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S. Released as Patch 1.08, this update modernizes the 2014 title for current-gen consoles just ahead of its Xbox Game Pass debut.
Smooth 60FPS Performance on Current-Gen ConsolesUbisoft confirmed the free update in an official blog post, stating:
“Far Cry 4 will now run at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X.S, PlayStation 5, and PS5 Pro, thanks to a free update deployed today.”
Previously capped at 30fps, Far Cry 4 now delivers smoother, more immersive gameplay for console users. From gyrocopter stunts to elephant charges, the action in Kyrat will now be experienced with unprecedented fluidity on modern hardware.
The update was first spotted by players on PS5, with confirmation and additional marketing shared through the official Far Cry X (formerly Twitter) account.
Far Cry 4 Joins Xbox Game PassCoinciding with the update, Far Cry 4 is now part of Xbox Game Pass starting April 30. Subscribers to Microsoft’s gaming service can download and play the enhanced version at no extra cost, further boosting the game’s reach a decade after launch.
Additionally, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers have access to the game via the Game Catalog, making the 60fps experience available to users across both major platforms.
